THE END!!!!!!!

The sea was calm with hot winds blowing in from the vast arid desert sands of Africa to the south. Emperor Cyrillus gazed out at the tranquil turquoise waters as he stood at the stern of his colossal sailing vessel, his heart filled with an intense nervousness he had not experienced in years. Question after question raced through his mind like a tempest... Did Queen Sparta live up to her end of the contract? Had she succeeded in her plans of deception? Did she make the murder look like an 'accident' as she proclaimed she would? Was Cothos still alive, sleeping and dreaming in the comfort of his bed in the Royal Spartan Palace? The Emperor was clearly distressed and his elite group of guards could not help but notice as their Emperor paced back in forth upon the decks of the massive ship, and they thought it odd that Cyrillus did not wish to eat any breakfast, nor had taken any dinner the night before, and so his entire entourage worried the weeks spent upon the sea and the tragedies in the eastern region had left their beloved Emperor sick and ill at ease. It was not until the captain and her crew brought the ship along the southern coast of Greece, docking at the mouth of the River Eurotas, did their troubled Emperor seemed more relieved.
His pulse racing the Emperor was brought ashore along with a small entourage of Roman Diplomats and his most loyal Legionaries whom were all greeted by the Harbour Master, whom himself had sent word to the Palace as soon as the Emperor's ship, the Coronet, was seen far off on the horizon. The news sent forth set the mood of the sleeping Palace household into one of life and excitement as the loyal servants, in service to the King and Queen, arose early going about the business of getting the Royal Residence ready for a long day of feasting and social entertaining. Here the King and Queen were alerted immediately, along with Princess Gianna, of the Emperors pending arrival, she herself sent forth word to the Roman delegation. Now these certain men, friends loyal to Cothos stirred uneasy in their beds.
Quickly all the drapes and shutters in the rooms of the Palace were all thrown open letting in the pale blue early morning light and fresh air filled with the soft sounds of dawns chorus of birds stirring in their nests high up in the green leaves of the trees in the forests and orchards surrounding the Palace. King Threakles hurried with his dressing and grooming, swatting at the hands of his attendants as they combed his hair, fumbling with his golden crown; which he placed upon his own head in a rush to greet the Emperor. Princess Gianna was so thrilled to have her father back safely in her company she began to rush to get ready as she ran from the room neglecting to place any shoes upon her bare feet moving quickly through the long corridors of the Place to the Great Hall to meet up with her father, so pleased was she. However, the men of the Roman delegation were dreading this day, for their departed friend General Cothos was, formerly, in a high seat of authority; which allowed him to elevate his friends in military rank and social status; which they, themselves did not earn by merit. All of his actions not the choosing of the Emperor, who tolerated their presence at best. Now Cothos was dead and they were sure the vengeful Emperor  would demote them in rank, or worse send them all to fight on the front lines in Germania to the West.
Whereas Queen Sparta did her best to contain her extreme excitement, for she had waited for this moment for weeks. So she did her best to gather up her words and courage to supplicate herself before her own court at the Emperor's feet. She went over her words carefully knowing she would have to give a convincing speech. Knowing she must show the greatest display of penitence, contrition, compunction, self reproach, remorse, grief and pain of suffering. Demonstrating her mental anguish so that all present would be believing of the most humbling scene of her sincere apology. So it was Queen Sparta sat in silence as she was groomed and dressed by her maidservants who appeared very nervous and anxious themselves. Here Sparta thought it best to shed a few tears of sorrow just to add to the tension and drama.
Now when Princess Gianna arrived in the Great Hall she found King Therakles seated upon his throne next to the empty throne of Queen Sparta . "My sister is being made ready she will join us shortly." King Therakles said rising to his feet embracing his future wife tightly giving her a loving smile and gentle kiss doing his best to calm her nerves as well as his. "Your father is being escorted by my charioteers he shall arrive any moment now."  as he said this there followed a loud commotion of voices as the Emperor of Rome entered in the Palace appearing in the Great Hall. Cyrillus stood there with all the presence and confidence of a conquering hero returned to victory and triumph. He gazed over at his beautiful, most precious, daughter he rushed towards her sweeping Gianna up in his arms clutching her in a tight bear hug of an embrace lifting her up off of her feet "My dearest, sweetest  child!" he said with a grin from ear to ear "I am so glad to see you again you are a lovely sight for these old eyes."
"Oh father I have missed your bright eyes and sweet smile!" Princess Gianna proclaimed laying her head on his broad chest throwing her arms around his neck.
"Pray tell, my good King Therakles, is all well here the Peloponnese, no rumblings of war from Phillip in the North to speak of?" he said bidding hail to the Grecian King "I hope the weeks have found you and your Nation well.., and not filled with terrible tragedy like that which has shaken the Eastern Regions." Cyrillus commented half jokingly.
Here King Therakles gave a strange look of grief and it took him a moment to respond in brief "Well.."     now as he spoke he was interrupted by the entrance of the Roman Delegation as they made their way pensively to the presence of their leader. The Emperor quickly noticing the room was suddenly filled with a solemn somber mood and he felt like he was attending a funeral. Here he spied around the room not seeing the face of his most  hated enemy and his heart leapt up in his throat when he realized General Cothos was not in attendance. So Cyrillus asked of his men "Tell me,"  he spoke in a calm voice going over to the Roman Delegation, who found it hard to look their Emperor in the eyes "Where is your General this morning? Do not tell me he has consumed too much wine last night and is still in his bed asleep?" he laughed but his question was met with silence.
"Father." Princess Gianna said in a small voice "Come, sit beside me, rest a little, let us discuss the matter of General Cothos."
"Matter? Of what matter do you speak? Why is General Cothos not standing here before me?" the Emperor asked in a harsh tone "Where is he!?"
"There has been an accident." King Therakles informed him.
"An accident?" Cyrillus asked with furrowed brow. "What has happened to the man?" he asked his heart racing, beads of sweat coming to his forehead.
"General Cothos is dead." came the loud voice of Queen Sparta who entered the Great Hall in robes of golden splendor her crown of silver stars shining upon her head as a hush fell over the crowd.
Emperor Cyrillus looked upon the glory of Queen Sparta seeing a disheartened look upon her once radiant face now ashen and pale with sadness as she approached, ever playing the part to deceive. The mighty heart of Cyrillus was full of relief and not grief, for he was  exceedingly full of happiness not regret at the successful assassination of General Cothos. However the Emperor too had to play his small part, so he acted as if he were truly deeply saddened "DEAD?!" he cried out in feigned shock and horror.
Whereupon Queen Sparta walked slowly towards the grief stricken Emperor and here she did something which no Spartan Ruler had ever done, hence or since, when she took the hand of Cyrillus, the Emperor of Rome, beseeching him to sit upon her own throne. Reluctantly Cyrillus did as she requested filling her empty seat there beside the King. As he did the Queen of Sparta got down upon her knees before him gazing up into the Emperor's eyes with great sadness then she opened up her mouth describing in full detail what had transpired that fateful day of the 'accident' perfectly and all of this she explained through a constant stream of tears.
"I am shocked and saddened by this news." Cyrillus lied "Tragedy after tragedy after tragedy have I been beset by, on all sides, these last days." came his disheartened reply then Queen Sparta, kneeling before him, placed her head in his lap weeping bitterly, heaping up her lamentations one after another speaking of her guilt and grief taking responsibility for the terrible event telling him.
"Oh Emperor! Whom all men fear, trembling before thy power, your threatening, full of anger. Yet there is inside you, even still, a merciful promise that is in itself immeasurable.., unsearchable. For thou are the most high Emperor Cyrillus of Rome, of great compassion, long suffering, very merciful, you who can absolve the evils of men with a stroke of a pen. Oh Emperor, you who are always abiding in your great goodness. I beg for your promise of mercy, out of my repentance, as I require your divine forgiveness to be given to I, whom have sinned against you, unknowing, unthinking and blind. I beseech thine infinite compassion and mercies that you might accept my repentance so that my heart and mind might be kept from the oppressive depression weighing upon my very soul." she paused to take a breath wiping back tears "I feel as if I am held down by chains of iron I can not lift up my head in confidence. There is no escape or release from the grip of guilt and madness. My heart aches.., I feel as if I can no loner breathe, for I am full of agony. I do not wish to provoke thy wrath. I now, therefore, bow my knees before you beseeching thy grace. I humbly beseech thee so that you may forgive me. Destroy not that bond of love and friendship we have built up between our two Great Nations. Let us remain together as allies forever in a Universal Peace. Be not angry with me forever, today and tomorrow yea, but be not angry with me forever by reserving evil thoughts for me to condemn me or, my iniquities; which run as deep as the sea. For you, Emperor Cyrillus, you yourself, are like a god unto me. So therefore I respectfully prostrate myself before you, kneeling at your feet humbly. I plead that you will show all the goodness of your merciful wisdom and understanding, for only your love and forgiveness can save me from my despair, though I know I am unworthy of your great mercy and pity. Therefore shall I be left suffering in the abyss of this infinite sadness forever all the days of my life? For all the power of the heavens resides in thee, that you may be glorified eternally would that you forgive me." her she bowed her head in his strong hands and wept.
Emperor Cyrillus shook his head, deeply moved by her speech; which to him sounded more like a prayer unto his ears as if he, himself, were sacred, godly. "I am not provoked to anger." he replied lifting up her chin gazing into her tear stained eyes "I am shocked and saddened as I have stated.., but I understand accidents will happen, Cothos was reckless, he should not have been out riding... Though I know in the fullness of time all things end." here Cyrillus took her hands in his and he made her this pledge. "You have committed no crime, nor sin, against myself, my family, or my Nation. Be light of heart for there is nothing for you to fear, no harm shall come your way. Rest easy your mind. Be of good cheer. Be strong, be confident and you shall overcome the world and all of its problems. For there shall be Mercy for Penitence, Mercy for Contrition, Mercy for Compunction, Mercy for Remorse, Pity for Grief and Pain, Pity for Mental Anguish. But above all this there shall be FORGIVENESS!" here he stood helping the Queen up to her feet as she smiled with the greatest of relief embracing the old Emperor who whispered in her ear "Well done my lovely."
"Blessed are you Emperor Cyrillus.., but will I ever be able to FORGIVE myself for what happened that day?" here she rested her head on his strong shoulder weeping like a small child.
"There there, dearest Royal friend, come dry your tears." he said comforting her "Come perhaps it would be better for you if we spoke together, alone, in private. Let the words of my mouth douse the hatred you have for yourself raging like an inferno in your heart."
So it came to pass, at long last, Queen Sparta and Emperor Cyrillus left the presence of the stunned crowd, meeting together in her private council chamber where they could speak freely and openly. Now when the two were shut up in the room the doors securely closed behind them the grief stricken look upon both of their faces changed to one of sheer delight and happiness "My dearest Queen , my sweetest assassin! Congratulations!" Cyrillus said embracing her tightly giving her little kisses upon the cheeks and forehead "You have served your faithful ally well!"
"It was not easy." she breathed a sigh of relief.
"Life is never easy, there is always work to be done, wars to wage and peace to keep." he smiled his eyes shining bright like diamonds "Oh rapturous joy! For my Royal House had been set in order! Aristicus my nephew shall be adopted as My SON and legitimate heir to my throne! Cothos is gone and can no longer conspire against me. You have helped my Nation and my Family immeasurably! And now you shall receive the reward on which we have agreed!"
"We shall tell my brother, the King, to help restore my sanity, I shall return to Rome with you for the summer, to get a change of scenery and to get away from the memory of what happened that day. I shall invite my friends La Vada and Syndra to keep me company and of course our new Prince of the Realm, General Cothos, whom I shall take as my husband during the Gameon festival in January." Queen Sparta smiled serenely as all her plans and acts of deception and the violence of the blood had brought to fruition all that she had dreamed. Her world had been set in order, according to her will, and she could at last breathe easy, for tomorrow she would be sailing off to Rome, the Emperor paying for all her expenses for the journey for she had negotiated with him to send her across the known world, on a lavish adventure. Sparta would travel as far as the Pillars of Hercules in the West down to North Africa, then East to Egypt, Judea and Persia. Queen Sparta wanted to see the world and everything in it and she would do anything to get out of Greece. When she shared the news with her brother, King Therakles he was surprised but relieved and he granted her permission to leave the Kingdom only under one condition. Queen Sparta must return, at a moments notice, in the event war broke out in the Peloponnese. To which she wholeheartedly agreed. When word was sent to Syndra and La Vada they were both left speechless and anxious to go on an oversea adventure for they had themselves never left the safety of Greece. Prince Synos could not believe when Queen Sparta told him of the exciting trip they would make together and he kissed her lovingly his heart full of gratitude and joy. So it wold seem all was right in the world of the Queen as she prepared for her adventure yet she had no idea what the Fates and Destiny would have in store for her and her companions as they explored the surrounding countries, for soon the World's War Trumpet would blow bringing changes to everything the Ancient World had known.

LAST CHAPTER Continues

As the long  hot day of waiting drew to a close with the sun setting over the Spartan Plain leaving the city in the cool shade of  Mt. Taygetos in the west, King Therakles sat in the Great Hall with his guests. He sat upon his chair at the head of the table next to the empty seat his sister should be sitting in as she would normally do at all of their feasts. Here those gathered together were the Roman delegation, all still in shock at the loss of General Cothos, along with Princess Gianna who urged her fellow countrymen not to dwell on, nor speak of the tragic accident. There were, representing Sparta, the ambassadors Lacuna and Lucia Vega accompanied by their husbands, Fleet Commander Vasha and Field Commander La Quint, along with Queen Sparta's dearest friends Captain La Vada and Captain Syndra. All were nervously waiting for General Synos to return to the Palace with the missing Queen Sparta.
There was a tense atmosphere in the room where few talked, and if they did it was of common things, the weather, the shooting stars seen in the heavens last night etc... Though there was set before the party a lavish delicious meal, prepared by the master chef of the Palace kitchens, hardly anyone touched the food set before them at the long table due to the distress of their hearts and minds over the stress of the events of the past few days. Mostly sitting in silence the King engaged not in conversation, merely gazing down, picking at the meat on his plate, sipping his wine lost in thought. Suddenly the Captain of the Palace Guards, Brittas, burst into the chamber excitedly panting proclaiming "My King!" his old face red in cheeks as the King stood to his feet along with his guests "Queen Sparta approaches in the Royal chariot riding with Prince Synos!" here a rush of excitement filled the voices and the air in the room became lighter as all leapt from their seats to their feet, quickly exiting en mass, rushing to the entrance of the Palace its great oaken and iron doors thrown open as all gathered together, including the guards and servants of the Royal Household to witness the return of their Sovereign Queen.
Sparta felt a nervous wave of enthusiasm and happiness surge through her body as the setting sun cast a golden shimmer upon the face of their radiant Queen, her long hair flowing behind her, a glow to her skin, her bright green eyes delighted to see her friends and family waiting for her with such an extreme expression of happiness and deep relief upon seeing her beaming face once more. This moment touched the heart of the Warrior Queen to its core and she felt tears of joy welling up in her eyes.
King Therakles, now feeling able to breathe easy, seeing his sister approach, safely returned at long last and he could not help but to notice, staring up at Synos and Sparta, side by side astride the chariot and it was remarkable for the first time he saw how the two looked very much like a gorgeous Royal Couple. "Hail Queen Sparta! I bid thee Hail!" King Therakles cried out opening up his loving arms to his missing sister who jumped from off of the chariot wrapping herself up in her brothers welcoming embrace as they kissed one another thrice upon the cheeks and twice upon the lips as a display of familial love and affection. Here Sparta felt a great weight lift up off her shoulders for she loved her brother more than life itself and she hated having to inflict such emotional trauma and torture upon his mighty heart and troubled mind. Yet, now thankfully, that was all over, all the deceit, the clever and cunning deception, murder, it was all over now. Everyone playing their parts, unknowingly, but beautifully. Now it was time to bury this event deep in her consciousness and move forward in the full faith of Unity, Loyalty, Respect and Honor.
"Dearest King, my brother.., my friends."  Queen Sparta addressed the growing crowd "Forgive the lunacy of my mind and the violence of my actions. I meant no harm to anyone." she said giving a somber look casting her gaze upon her maidservants who were still sporting a few black eyes and contusions. Here Sparta was taken up in a warm group embrace by those who loved her and were like family, Syndra and La Vada along with Prince Synos and King Therakles heaping hugs and words of love and understanding upon her. She felt warm and safe in the full embrace of reconciliation.
"Come.., we must all show our united support for our Queen and we must also heap praise upon our dear loyal Prince Synos!" King Therakles spoke and it did good for the hearts of Synos and Sparta both to hear. "Blessed be you, who has returned our glorious Queen back to us all safely." cheers and applause rang out, pats on the back and well wishes were called for and Synos was well pleased with the high praise indeed, the highest of praise coming form his King.
"I live to serve, I serve to live." Prince Synos replied taking Queen Sparta by the hand.
"Come let us hie you, dear lady, to our Physician, Traveros to insure you are well and suffering no illness nor malady." King Therakles said beckoning for his sister to join him in one of the private chambers of the Palace.
"No, no." she answered sweetly "I suffer not in illness or pain, though I am myself very tired and extremely hungry."
"Let us then return to our dinner to feast together and be happy once more.., but first, we must, all of us, give up our prayers of thanks to the gods and goddesses, and our Prince Synos, for the safe return of our beloved Queen." here a moment of silent prayer followed then the merry group gathered back together once more, their voices lifted in cheerful spirit creating a festive mood, as brother and sister sat beside one another at the head of the table Prince Synos sat at the Queen's right hand and Princess Gianna sitting to the King's left. Much discussion was made concerning current events in the region and much laughter and happy voices filled the massive chamber as oil lamps were lit to keep the coming darkness at bay. There was much to speak of, however there was no discussion made of the 'accident' or the Queens brief descent into madness. No one dared mention the name of Cothos lest the Queen become upset and have a mental relapse into depression. Yet it was not until Sparta had eaten a large portion of roasted lamb and grilled peppers, along with three glasses of wine the Queen began to stare off into the distance in an eerie silence, no expression on her face, looking right past her close friends La Vada and Syndra, who themselves turned back to look and see who, or what, their Monarch was staring at. It was as if she could see someone, or something, that had grabbed her attention. However as they glanced over their shoulders they saw that there was no one, nothing there.
"I fear..," Queen Sparta whispered staring off into the distance, her voice so small only those seated closest to her could hear.
"What fear do you speak of, dearest sister." King Therakles asked growing concerned once again, his stomach beginning to churn.
"When Emperor Cyrillus returns.. he will be exceedingly wroth and angry with me." Sparta sighed pretending to be concerned though she knew the Emperor would reward her handsomely.
"Queen Sparta." Princess Gianna spoke up, bearing no ill will towards her soon to be sister-in-law. "Trouble not your heart and mind by this matter, for it was merely an accident of fate. You, yourself, have suffered much under the circumstances but now, time and the love of your friends and family have made you well." she smiled sweetly with a sincere look of the greatest compassion."My father is a very understanding man. He will, I can assure you, find it in his infinite capacity for mercy and pity, to forgive you, as we, all ourselves, have." Princess Gianna said giving a stern look to the men of the Roman delegation, who, even if they had doubts or anger over the death of Cothos, all knew better that to speak out against Queen Sparta, lest they have the daughter of the Emperor himself to answer to.
Queen Sparta reached across the table touching the hand of the Roman Princess giving it a little squeeze saying "Oh my dear brother Therakles, what a perfect woman you have found to be your bride, for she is as beautiful as she is wise."
"And you, yourself, sweet sister have you not agreed to wed Synos in the marriage ceremony, for he shall be an excellent husband. Of his love and devotion to you I am quite certain can not be surpassed by any other man.., save only me." King Therakles smiled with a wink then finally giving Synos the look of approval he had been desperately seeking for years.
Now, at the mention of the nuptials, a hush fell over the room as all looked upon the two young newly betrothed lovers who gazed at each other in silence then the Queen smiled happily and simply nodded her head yes to the delight of the crowd.
"However..," she said with a sigh "Out of respect for the dead. It is best that we do not discuss the matter of my betrothal to Synos, making no mention of this matter to the Emperor. For I do not wish to ever diminish the deep affection I had in my heart for your brave countryman." here Queen Sparta arose taking up her glass and saying "Let us drink a glass out of respect to that great and imperial man, to General Cothos!" here all stood, even Prince Synos, and each drank down a glass to the memory of that ambitious and self righteous man. So it was all agreed to keep the pending marriage secret from Cyrillus, for the sake of peace and harmony.
A short while later when Sparta had her fill of food, for she had eaten only very little over the past three days, she sated her appetite for nourishment and thirst for wine until she felt as if her stomach would surely burst. So it came to pass the exhausted Queen rose to her feet, giving a goodnight kiss to her brother and her dearest Prince Synos, bidding her guests farewell. Escorted, once again, under the secure protection of her night sentries Queen Sparta returned to her bedchamber; which was now made clean and tidy by her loyal servants. Here the Queen was bathed and pampered in luxury by her attendants who made their Monarch ready for her night time rest. Left alone in her quiet room Sparta lie back in the warm comfort of her silken pillows and fine linen sheets, secure in the knowledge Emperor Cyrillus, who was now sailing close to the coast of Greece and would be arriving early the next morning, would be well pleased with her murderous actions for she had proved a lethal assassin. Yet still the Queen found it hard to sleep she was left tossing and turning endlessly but after an hour or so Queen Sparta finally closed her eyes and managed to fall into a deep and peaceful sleep, undisturbed nightmares or haunting dreams.

More LAST CHAPTER!!!

So it was the two young lovers went hand and hand feeling their way through the darkness as they came upon the illuminated path which led to their secret hiding place. Queen Sparta and Prince Synos coming together without a care for the Fates or the Future, for all that mattered right now was the present moment, the past was buried in the grave its ghost could no longer haunt them. Synos stood before his Queen, and future wife, as he slowly removed her cloak unveiling her naked, lean muscular body, to him it was as if he were uncovering a rare work of sculptural art, the work of a master hand. He lay the cloak down as a blanket  for them to lie upon atop the flat round stone, his eyes ablaze in the flames of the flickering torches "Let us bring to light the hidden things of that great mystery of Love. We shall make manifest the council of our hearts and minds through the actions of the flesh." her Synos kissed Sparta gently and sweetly. His thoughts filled with his beautiful Queen, for she was wonderful and she was glorious, almost divine. Slipping off his tunic of gold and purple robes of splendor along with his dusty sandals Synos stood tall, fully erect, fully exposed unto her, the Queen's eyes wide with delight taking him all in with her sight, reaching out to touch the warriors hard, firm chest and stomach of this Greek god come to life. Embraced tightly deeply in kisses, wet tongues, soft lips, hot breath he brought himself to bare upon her trembling body as she lie down before him, her long lean legs spread out before him, opening herself up to him fully, his heart raced at the sight of her sweet pink flesh as he laid himself upon her, penetrating slowly within the warm moist depth of her tight body. She breathing hard, uttering loud erotic moans/screams of pure delight. Energy, like a bolt of lightening, flowing between them, there alone, together, out of the sight of the rest of the world. Each giving and receiving from one another love and lust freely, openly.
Flesh coming sticky and sweet, like honey to his lips, his head buried in her lap, drinking her in like fine wine in this exquisite moment in time. The savage heart of Synos melted like wax over a flame when his beloved cried out his name, over and over again. Sparta was lost in this bliss, her heart racing and she felt a little close to death, for such physical happiness should bring ones spirit closer to the abode of the gods and she was getting closer than any mortal should ever be allowed. So that hunger and thirst for love and affection, was sated and quenched and solely demonstrated through animalistic carnal desires by which they poured themselves into wholeheartedly. Two strong bodies in perfect form, fit and function and there was nothing that they would not give and receive from one another fully. For this experience of sweat and hot breaths and wet mouths was unto them like a pleasurable dream or fantasy of the dark night, come to life. From on her knees Sparta delighted in this waking dream for Synos tasted sweet like warm honey drizzled on her lips and wet tongue.
So it was the love and passion, that existed for years between them, was brought forth in the form of hot wet kisses on the mouth, pulses racing caught up in a pure perfect moment of sheer ecstasy, as their limbs intertwined coming hard, vigorously slamming against each others body. Had anyone been spying on this aggressive scene of debauchery one would be hard pressed to determine if they were making love or trying to kill one another. What with the gnashing of teeth, scratching of skin, pulling of hair, biting of the neck and shoulders, hands around the throat, slapping of the ass and cheeks. Flashes of wet kisses, moist tongues, pink lips, hard cock, firm round ass, fire burning bright, sticky flesh glistening in the sparkling light, rapturous desire, naked breasts, sweating skin, short hot breaths.
Whereupon the two young lovers came together as one, coming together in secret, giving up in each others arms surrendering to the deep seeded feelings of love and affection, all anger and animosity that had ever existed between them was now completely undone and banished to the land of ghosts and winds. For now their lustful needs for each others pleasure surpassed all reason, penetrating deeply both physically and spiritually as they stared in each others eyes taking their time, Synos now easing up a bit, slipping in and out of her slowly. Queen Sparta skin illuminated from within as if she, herself, was now glowing brighter than the sun, her eyes sparkling like jewels in a crown as she gazed up at the blessed face of her Prince Synos, he fully engorged, pulsating inside of her with every throb of his heart. She was ecstatic and enraptured by the ultimate culmination of all her acts of deception, and her delayed frustrations. Each coming to fruition in a hot wave of lust, passion and desire leaving all past transgressions in destruction, dissolving away in the fires of forgiveness. Here in the depths of the cold Earth Queen Sparta and Prince Synos were both wittiness to the physical manifestation of their Pure Perfect Love, given fully and freely between the pair. In that moment Prince Synos and Queen Sparta knew that the unforeseeable future would always be uncertain, but together they would take on the many challenges the Fates and the gods had in store for them. No matter what would come Queen Sparta would do everything in her power to protect her Prince Synos and upon their marriage she would make him her King.

LAST CHAPTER Begins!

Gazing upon her face, Synos beheld Queen Sparta's radiant splendor, her golden smile and shining hair, the mighty heart of the Warrior Prince leapt within his chest at the sight of his Royal Lady as he fell upon his knees, kneeling down before his sacred Queen. Prince Synos wrapped his strong arms around her tiny waist griping her tightly to his muscular body while resting his head on her flat stomach exclaiming proudly "Praise be to the gods and goddesses! I have found you safe and sound at last!"
Here Queen Sparta gazed down upon her beloved there on his knees before here and she could feel his hot breath through the heavy cloak, for it was opened up a bit forming a small slit just between her thighs so that if Synos had slipped a finger inside it he would have found his Monarch completely naked. Now she noticed the garland of oak leaves around his head and she said "What manner of this sweet Synos? Why do you wear this symbol of Royalty?" she posed her question running a long thin finger through the little black locks of his short hair.
"This is my Ceremonial Crown." he replied with a smile tilting his chin upwards gazing deep into her emerald eyes "Why, in your absence, I, myself, have this very hour been appointed as a Prince of the Realm and have risen to the rank of General in a span of a mere three hours." here he flashed an epic exuberant smile.
"Upon whose authority? By what means? By what Royal Decree?" she gasped eyes wide exceedingly pleased.
"Upon order of your brother, King Therakles." he said triumphantly.
Queen Sparta looked as if she was lost in a daze of wonderment "Is this not yet a trick of my mind? Are you, now, here standing before me an image from a vivid hallucination?"she gasped bidding him to arise from up off his knees.
"I am not a figment of your imagination." Synos said boldly standing now fully erect, coming face to face with Sparta telling her "I am flesh and blood, my heart stirs with furious beatings, my blood flows hot through my veins, and my breath will bring a fever to your lips. Here he paused as if to give her a luscious kiss, then he with drew a bit as look as serious as the grave came over his face as he explained "However.., all I have spoken of will be made undone, the decree will not be honored by any nations and my commission as General will be abolished if I do not meet the demands, the commands, put forth by our most honorable King, who has been beside himself with grief in this crisis of your sudden disappearance."
The eyes of the Queen sharpened like that of a hawk blinded by the sun and she asked of him "What are the demands he makes of you?"
Synos stood up straight and said plainly "I am to remain a General.., if I return you home safely to the Palace to the arms of your brother whom, as I have stated, is sore to anger in his desire to see you safe by his side."
     "And the second?"
"I shall remain a member of the Royal House of Sparta forever.., under only one condition..," here Synos took in a deep breath taking his Regents hands in his, moving his body a little bit closer, pressing into her skin, his lips just barely touching her mouth then he spoke softly. "I must make you my wife and take you in the marriage ceremony as my bride. That is, if you will do me the honor of allowing me to be your husband and give you strong children so that we together shall bequeath a Royal Dynasty befitting this mighty Nation?"
Now, if time could be made to stand still, Sparta felt herself wrapped up in this moment of revelation. For she had achieved complete and total Success! Her brother and everyone else from the soldiers to every last citizen playing their own special part, unknowing of course, in her ultimate plan of murder and deception. Queen Sparta knew what is was to rule over men, yet she knew not what it felt like to be a god, but in this moment of frozen time Queen Sparta came a little bit closer to understanding the meaning of POWER and CONTROL. "I..," she spoke her words coming uneasy in her mouth.
"MARRY ME!" Synos cried out  "My beloved Sparta say that you will be mine, lift me up my soul so hollow! Unless..," he paused withdrawing a little. "Unless your heart is still deeply, sorely troubled by your love and loss of Cothos?" he asked the very man's name, his former rival, coming like bitter ashes in his mouth as he spoke it.
"Oh, my sweet PRINCE Synos!" Sparta exclaimed a spark flashing in her eye as she gave a soft, gentle smile."Do you know how I have fantasized about this day. I, myself, still am shocked, I feel this is still just a trick of my mind. However.., if all you say is true, and you are flesh and blood, not some phantom specter of my troubled imagination, then I shall answer your question, I will open up my mouth and speak only of the truth." whereupon she took two steps back along with a calming breath and this is what she said "You must first, open up your heart and mind, listen to what I say." here there was brief pause of silence as the eyes of Synos grew wide in anticipation as he waited nervously to hear her reply. "Synos, my friend, my dearest, sweetest love.., I sent you away NOT because I loved Cothos.., but because I love YOU too much." here she let this information soak into the buds of his mind like warm honey. Suddenly Synos let this sink in and he instantaneously felt that cold wave of numbness he had been feeling all night and day melt away with her declaration of love. "My madness derives from my guilt in the matter.., for by getting too close to Cothos, in a fruitless attempt to forget you.., as if he could be a substitute for the love, I could never have, and hold, for my own. By doing so I have not only hurt you.., but I have harmed this man and caused his death by allowing him to become too close to me. For, had I not drew him to my circle.., Cothos would be alive today." she paused gave a concerned look adding "And I am sure when Emperor Cyrillus arrives there will be hell for me to pay."
"Never, No. It was an accident! For I can assure you, Great Lady, no harm will ever come your way."
Queen Sparta felt peace and joy curl up in her heart as she through her arms around his neck and said "Come closer, Prince Synos, hear what I say. For I have loved you so long, the pain caused by your absence weighs on my heart like a burning fire. When you are gone away from my side I am made to suffer every day. I do not want to be without you." she drew closer still, mouth to mouth, breath on breath "Kiss me Synos, make me forget about this tragic event. Come into me. My holy anointed Prince of the Realm, let us be together, fully, once more, naked, alone, trusting faithfully in truth and love."

End Chapter 20

In the 23rd hour of her disappearance, two days before the return of emperor Cyrillus, Queen Sparta lie on her back staring up at the spectacular ceiling of the cave thinking of all that had transpired that day. She had stolen away undetected walking off to the southern foothills of Mt.Parnon to the tiny village of Kastnia. Where, going unrecognized, Queen Sparta managed to steal a large basket from a woman who was distracted whilst haggling over spices at the little market place. Sparta was delighted with her illicit procurement of figs, olives, feta, oranges, a pot of honey along with a small portion of sweet red wine. Immensely pleased with herself Sparta marched along the narrow winding path surrounded by towering growths of ancient forest covering the south eastern slopes of the snow capped mountain. Where, after three hours of traveling by foot, in her dusty sandals, Queen Sparta finally found herself standing at the mouth of the massive cave. She had not been here in many years, but all remained as spectacular as she had remembered, for the cavernous sub-structure was a true wonder to behold, where could be seen rare geological formations unlike anywhere else in the known world. What took nature millions of years to carve out by the force of water and wind erosion; which bore through the limestone and crystalline carbonate like the chisel of a master sculptures hand, leaving the viewer with a fantastical impressive spectacle of geology; which could only be seen and appreciated by the warm glow of flickering torches and oil lamps left behind by fellow adventurous thrill seekers who dared to come down and enter this strange, subterranean sacred place, down here, in the underground, in the abyss of darkness where the only other living thing was a small insect-like creature that was, itself, deaf and blind.
Strange shadows of light flickered upon the walls and the ceilings glistened with sparkling crystals in the warm glow of the flames from the torches which stabbed at the inky blackness like daggers of orange light illuminating the spectacular view revealing bizarre shapes and forms coming in seven colors, red, white, orange, brown, yellow, pink and pale amethyst. This fantasy escape of design and form, where two magnificent waterfalls cascaded down in a roar surging forth with pure mountain water, among the towering columns of limestone. There were curtains of rock, like sheets, which overflowed from the ceiling like dripping wax from hundreds of candles. Among the bizarre surroundings were fantastical formations resembling gigantic masses of 'coral', an 'octopus', large 'birds nest', 'elephants' and enormous 'mushrooms' along with extra terrestrial 'bird-like creatures', strange 'human caricatures, exotic 'plants' and a truly rare sight, where wide, flat discs, large enough to bed a man dotted the floor. All of which having been made smooth by an ancient river system that once flowed through the mountain cutting deep into the heart of it leaving behind the massive underground structure, some 1,500 square meters in depth, width and breadth. This was a most sacred space revered, and feared, by men for thousands of years. Here is where Sparta and Synos would steal away to be with each other in secret to test the limits of their sexual desires and mastering control over their fevered passions.
So, here now, Sparta awaited her beloved patiently laying naked on the stolen cloak, sipping her purloined wine, eating up the little sweet breads the Roman Princess had so loving baked for her and they were quite delicious and so Sparta saved the very last one for her sweetheart, Synos. Who according to her plan and meticulous calculations should be coming to seek her out soon. In the meantime she combed her long hair as she rested, stretched out atop one of the flat disc formations scattered about near a shallow pool on the bottom level of the deep cave. Whereupon, just moments after she had closed her eyes, she heard a loud noise at the entrance to the cave. It was the familiar sound of a chariots wheels and a team of horses who neighed there disapproval upon approaching the mouth of the cold mountain cave. The cries of the horses echoing down through the dark chambers, save only for the little bit of light issuing forth from the torches lit by the Queen of Sparta. Here she leapt to her feet quickly, nearly tripping over the cloak she threw across her naked flesh as she hurried to the entrance feeling her way out in darkness where she beheld the bright sunlight pouring into the cavern the black silhouette of a tall, broad shouldered man stood peering into the void. Sparta could see out, but the man could not see in.
"SPARTA!" came the thunderous voice of Synos; which shook the air around her ears, startling Sparta as the sound echoed and reverberated off the walls for what seemed like an eternity as Queen Sparta remained perfectly still, her pulse racing, shocked into silence. Then as Synos took one step forward she called out to him in a voice that was sweet and kind.
"Yes, my lord, I am here." replied the pale faced Queen, stepping out into the fullness of the radiant sunlight, her long red hair shining like copper in the sun as Sparta appeared before him as if in a dream and Synos thought she looked like a spirit called forth up out of the mountain.

More Chapter 20

Whereupon King Therkles, attired in his regal robes of crimson, sat upon his temple throne directly behind the main altar in the Temple of Hera making his royal edict known. Having called for all the priests and priestess from all the temples of worship along with each and every acolyte in service to the holy divinities, with all the scribes and scripture notari, including the Physician Traverios and many members of high ranking political status accompanied by their own lawyers, by order of the King. All called bearing witness to this most unusual and unprecedented ceremony of both great religious and legal significance.
The King of Sparta elucidated further on the issue in the presence of all the men and women assembled there in the early morning light, the sun beams casting long shadows streaming over the towering columns gleaming bright white, illuminating the massive marble statues of Hera and her husband Zeus, the sunlight bringing a radiant glow to the face of the young Grecian King. Who sat above the people with his sharp eyes and glimmering golden crown of oaks leaves, looking himself much like a god, a purely holy, unearthly being. Synos gazed up at King Therakles, who sat across from him, as he stood in front of the altar feeling the weight of the stares of the people and the glare of the sun on his back and shoulders. Synos had returned to Sparta that day as a Major in the Army, suddenly he was made a General, by order of the King, and now would serve as the Prince of this new Blood Covenant, he entering, peacefully, without fear of reprisals or any apprehensions of threat of derision. For, though he was incredibly nervous, palms sweating, heart racing, Synos knew he would now undergo a strange metaphysical, religious transformation, doing that which his fathers had not done, nor their father's fathers.
King Therakles called for Synos to be draped in fine linens of purple and gold by the young virginal acolytes in service to Hera. A garland of sacred oak leaves and grape vines was quickly fashioned and placed upon the head of Synos signifying a crown. All watched in reverent silence, save for the distant scream of eagles overhead circling high up in the clear blue sky, as Therakles stood erect standing now at the center of the white marble altar facing Synos and the ever growing crowd of spectators as the Physician Traverios approached slowly, in his hand a ceremonial knife that was, in fact, one of his surgical scalpels, long thin and sharp as any sword. "Make the incision." King Therakles spoke softly then addressing the crowd he shouted loudly "Let my Royal Blood flow! This is my blood of which General Synos will drink!"
A gasp came up from the audience as Traverios laid the blade against the bare flesh of their King's inner arm, just above the wrist. As Therakles made a fist of his left hand he felt the sharp prick of pain as his physician sliced open an inch long gash, opening up his skin letting the blood flow freely from within, Traverios taking care not to puncture a vein or artery. There in an instant a scarlet stream of blood poured forth from the wound and gathered up in a golden chalice held steady by Synos, whom was made to drink of when a good amount of the crimson liquid filled the bottom of the cup. Doing his best to drink down the thick, sticky substance, the life blood of his Sovereign Royal King. Yet Synos thought it odd how the blood left a sharp toxic taste of iron on his tongue. Here he felt the warmth of it slide down his throat into his empty stomach and it was easy going down his throat, traquilazoma.
As King Therakles was tended to by his physician, who wrapped the superficial wound with thin white strips of clean linen in order to staunch the bleeding. Synos suddenly felt ill at ease feeling as if he were going to be sick and he felt faint in the morning heat. However, as King Therakles gazed upon him from directly across the altar, with a glorious, radiant peaceful smile upon his face, Synos immediately relaxed all the tense muscles of his body, quieting the storm cloud of thoughts in his head, an elation sweping over him in a wave of incredible lightness of being, almost feeling as if he were now, somehow, floating just above the ground, his heart the weight of a feather, his mind clear and still as a tomb. This was due to the intoxicating effects of opium placed in to the cup before the ceremony.
King Therakles gazed upon the shining face of Synos and he, himself, felt a huge sense of relief feeling a little bit closer to having his sister, the Queen, home safe by his side, divorced from the grip of sadness and the heavy burden of undue guilt. So, taking in a deep breath, he spoke in a loud clear voice that did every ones heart good to hear. "General Synos, you have taken my blood by the consumption of your mouth in the presence of all those gathered here today. Let it be known, and written of, that General Synos has entered this Blood Covenant in true faith in the laws I so decree, and by allegiance to the Laconian Throne with valor through eternal displays of Unity, Loyalty, Respect and Honor. I hereby issue forth a new proclamation established through this Royal Blood Covenant that I declare before all the World! General Synos shall now be entitled with the rank of Prince in the Royal Houses of Sparta and Themiscyra. Whereby the Royal Blood of two great Nations now flows freely through his veins. I now declare you Prince Synos of Sparta, in service to the Laconian Throne." King Therakles gave a great look of solemn divinity over at him saying to him "Unto you, Prince Synos, I shall bestow Mercy and Forgiveness for all past transgressions, so that you might walk upright in my laws, obeying my voice, so set this seal of wisdom and understanding in your heart and mind. So that you, now, being blood of my blood, through the consumption by your lips, have become one with my body and spirit for all time." here Therakles paused and shook the hands of Prince Synos then turning his attention on the gathering mass he spoke directly to the crowd saying in a voice as loud as any thunder "Let it NEVER be said that Prince Synos is not of Royal blood. For even as I impart this wisdom to you, establishing this New Blood Covenant, the heritage of my ancient lineage courses through his veins even as it flows through mine own." the crowd remained hushed in awe of the scene then King Therakles continued admonishing all the spectators "Let it be known to all the nations, by this blood covenant; which binds us together, I shall set forth the Royal Decree before all the gods and goddesses, all the presidents of all the kingdoms, all the governors, and all the kings and princess, the generals, the captains of all the armies and navies. Of whom shall be consulted together, bidding their fraternal respect and honor that which I have established by my divine authority. And be it known that all shall swear by affirmations in the positive, standing firm on this decree. So be it, that whomsoever shall let it be known from this day forward, be they the rulers, or their citizens they rule over, that they shall recognize and establish in their minds and legal doctrines that General Synos shall now be elevated to the elite status of Prince Synos of Sparta. This sacred rite has been performed in this holy place. So let it be written that there shall be a curse upon anyone who petitions against this proclamation in any court or house of worship. Let anyone who wishes to raise up their contentious voice to any god or goddess, or any man, save only me, let them come and decry my decree before my judgement and I shall cut them up into little pieces and feed them to my dogs."
An uproarious burst of cheers and applause sprang up from the enormous crowd as Synos turned to face the throng of well wishers chanting his name and he, himself, felt as noble as any king. Prince Synos saw the golden Royal Chariot pull up in front of the steps as the crush of citizens parted, making way for the new Prince as Therakles whispered in his ear. "Go now to Queen Sparta, alone in your chariot. Go to her, establish in her heart and mind your Princely Royal Status, tell her all is well. Bring her back to the Palace for the Emperor arrives soon and she must be made whole again.., for my happiness solely depends on it." the look of grave concern returning once again to his sad eyes.
"I shall do all that is required, my Liege. For I, myself, cannot have any happiness or peace of mind, nor heart, while we have been kept apart" Prince Synos paused then over the roar of the crowd he gave his Monarch a self determined smile "Queen Sparta will be returned home, safe and secure, no harm shall come her way, rest assured oh King, all will be made well again."

Chapter 20 begins

Twelve hours later, as dawn arose in a robe of golden splendor, Major Synos found himself anxiously awaiting an audience with King Therakles after a long hard ride from his garrison in the north. As he paced back and forth nervously in the great hall he wondered why he had been summoned back to the Royal Palace, further adding to his concern and confusion was the fact that there were no guards stationed outside the Queens bedchamber. His pulse quickened as his heart raced a terrible sinking feeling filling his stomach as his palms began sweating and he felt the flush of fever on his brow.
"Major Synos!" came the relived cry of the Spartan King who entered alone looking exhausted as if he had not been able to sleep. "I see you made no delay in your arrival, you must have been riding in the saddle all night, of this I am well pleased."
"Yes my King, yet pray tell., why have you called for me so urgently?" he asked his eyes sharp and focused on the face of Therakles.
"You have been summoned on a matter of great importance." the King paused laying a hand on the distressed Major broad shoulder telling him "Queen Sparta has gone missing, of her own free will."
Major Synos gave a shocked look of deep concern asking of him "What has transpired here to make her abandon the Palace and her responsibilities to her Nation?"
Therakles paused then with a heavy sigh he said "There has been a most unfortunate accident, General Cothos is dead." here there came a silence followed by an explanation by the King of all that transpired from this tragic event, bringing him up to speed. Shocked into silence Major Synos sat himself down in the presence of the King for the news was so overwhelming. "Somehow our Sparta had become quite smitten with the Roman General, why it is beyond my comprehension, however since this tragedy has occurred my sister blames herself for his death, by allowing him to ride her war horse, thus causing him to lose his life. She was left in a terrible state of horror and grief. So it has come to pass that she has appeared to have gone quite mad with despair, feeling guilty for this tragedy." he rubbed his temples the pain in his head growing stronger as he, himself, sat next to the mortified Major whose face turned as white as the wool of a sheep. "I have sent out droves of men to search for her all throughout the city and the surrounding countryside, all to no avail. It is as if she has just disappeared from off the face of the Earth, we are unable to locate her, nor anyone that has even seen our troubled Queen." There came a long pause of hesitation to respond on the part of Synos who now felt sick to his stomach. "I shall be honest with you further, for we two, as men, have not always seen eye to eye on a great many things, chief among them is your close relationship to my sister the Queen. I know for a fact  you and she would often meet somewhere in secret during your years at the academy, keeping your relationship hidden from the eyes of our disapproving society."
"Because I am unworthy of her love and affection for I am not Royalty." Synos said in disgust for even though his love for Sparta was pure and true he was a common man and not elite enough to be able to receive the Queens affection being seen by all as unworthy of her love.
"Synos, I pray of thee, if you have any love left in your heart for Sparta, do not forsake her. Go, without delay, bring her home safely to me, and you will be the blessed hero of a grateful nation and all her people." he said giving Synos a look of grave worry and concern. "I pray you speak openly and honestly with me when I ask of you.., do you still have any love left in your hard heart for my sister now?"
Whereupon, for the first time in his short life, Synos opened up his mouth and let the truth come spilling out. "I love Sparta NOW and FOREVER!" he replied feeling a great weight lifting up from his heart and mind then he pledged from the depths of his soul "I will go and bring her back safely.., for there is a secret meeting place we two shared where we could go and be.., together."
Now the thought of Synos being alone with his beloved sister made the King furious with anger, however, yet again, his concern and worry far exceeded his anger and frustration in the matter, so he spoke plainly "I have feared this all these years., and now, to hear your secret love to be professed in truth sets my nerves on edge.., however, I shall overlook your indiscretions for though it pains me to hear you have been deceiving me all this time.., I now require only one thing from you.., and that is to have my sister back home safe with me, where she can be surrounded by the people that love her dearly, and that, I see, includes you too." King Therakles said taking in a deep breath then he added in a calm clear voice "I can promise you this much, Synos. Bring our sweet Sparta out of the dark abyss of sadness and madness and I shall issue a decree and give you a new commission as a General in my vast Army."
Major Synos sat there for a moment staring at the King "I am not concerned with a new commission or rising up in rank." he paused then peering into the worried Kings tired eyes he said "I will do as you ask.., however, I, myself, require only one thing."
"Ask of it, and you shall be given whatever your heart desires." he replied eager to get the Major on his way without delay. "Pray tell what is it you desire of me?" he asked as his heart seemed to skip a beat as his stress grew larger in capacity.
"I am seeking out your blessing, and approval, to take your sisters hand in marriage, if Sparta will still have me." now here, in what seemed like an eternity, Major Synos waited anxiously for the King to speak.
Hereafter King Therakles gave a look of shock as if he had just been slapped across the face then he said softly in a voice as small as a bird "Marriage?"
"Yes." whereupon the impatient Major stood to his feet pleading his case "I will take the commission of General as you have so generously offered, thereby establishing myself in a higher ranking in the military and society making me better suited to marry our Queen."
"You, yourself, Synos.., you are not ROYALTY!" King Therakles reminded the common man.
"Yes, 'tis true, I have no royal bloodline coursing through my veins, I have not been given the divine right to rule by our gods.., as you and she. Yet, under these dire circumstances perhaps you will be willing to overlook this flaw in my being." here he paused then knelt before his King "Allow me to return her safely into your loving arms, unharmed and secure, but I beg of you, if Sparta will take me as her devoted husband, please find some way that we can be together, let me live in the light of her love and I will provide for her protection and pure affection forever and ever." he proclaimed his eyes watering a bit full of emotion.
King Therakles knew not what to think, say, or do as many thoughts raced through his mind as he sat there staring up at the determined man who had betrayed his trust many times over concerning the matter of his sisters virtue. "How shall this.., can marriage ever come to pass?" he asked unable to see a way to freely allow Synos to wed his Royal sister.
"Oh Therakles you, yourself, are a wise and clever King. You can do anything." Major Synos reminded him.
King Tharakles gave this situation deep thought then incredibly an idea suddenly sprang to mind. "Perhaps there is a way that will allow this marriage to take place and be accepted by our society."
Hope and Faith leapt up in the tortured heart of Synos as he exclaimed "Whatever it takes my King, but let us not make haste, nor any further delays, for the heart and mind of our Great Queen is at stake."
"Come let us away to the temple of Hera, for we must summon the priests." he said jumping to his feet.
"How shall our task be accomplished, pray tell me." Major Synos begged to know.
"There shall be a blood letting ceremony." he replied eyes wide.
Now Synos knew the King to be deeply involved with the great mysteries of the their religion, but Synos was not as religious and superstitious as he. Yet being hard pressed to fulfill his desire of a Royal wedding in Holy Matrimony, he agreed to obey his King, doing whatever was necessary to marry his beloved Queen Sparta,.Who now was sleeping peacefully in the depths of the dark cave curled up in the warm, stolen cloak taken from the Roman Princess, who, herself, now was beside herself with worry. So it was King Therakles and Major Synos made their way through the empty city streets arriving at the vast temple complex where both the priest and priestess were surprised to see their monarch and his soldier there so early in the morning.
